Privacy and Cookies
This service is being provided by Berkshire Family History Society and its wholly owned subsidiary Berkshire Family History Enterprises Ltd. The Society is registered as a charity in England and Wales (No. 283010) and the Company is registered at Companies House. Berkshire Family History Society has registered under the Data Protection Act (Reg. No. Z6777187) with the Information Commissioner's Office
If you have registered with the service you have provided your name, e-mail address, postcode and country. If you order by mail order you will have provided an address for despatch. In addition, if you pay by a credit or debit card transaction you have also provided a full address, card number and other details. Only our payment service WorldPay (UK privacy policy) will receive the details from your credit or debit card. Online payment transactions are conducted using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) which encrypts all information sent between your computer and WorldPay.
All data collected is used solely for the delivery of the supplied services. Under no circumstances will Berkshire Family History Society or Berkshire Family History Enterprises sell or pass your e-mail address to other organisations or third parties to use for unsolicited commercial e-mail.
Within the members' area accessible by registered users, the discussion list archive may include articles containing email addresses and other information posted by other members. At your request we may forward email and other correspondence to members of the society, so divulging your name and contact details to the final addressee.
Cookies
Cookies are used in the provision of this service, but only to hold details of a customer's current search data and a unique session identifier. These five cookies do not contain personal or card information.
Three cookies retain information for a year or more:
- fontSize – determines the size of the text on the screen
- jcl_return_to – thought to record position in previous page for administrators only
- a83717853dfe2d94a7e7641e92fa1be4 (or similar) - holds your login details only if you ask to be remembered.
The other two cookies store information strictly necessary during your browser session and are intended to be destroyed when you close your web browser (as Firefox has the capability to restore your previous session, these cookies are not destroyed immediately):
