BERKSHIRE MARRIAGES - Second Edition
This Berkshire Marriages CD provides nearly 450,000 names of grooms, brides, fathers and witnesses in over 140,000 marriages recorded in the marriage registers and Bishops’ Transcripts of Berkshire parishes. Volunteers undertake transcribing on behalf of Berkshire Family History Society. Work will continue until all available Berkshire Marriages have been recorded.

This First Edition focussed mainly, but not exclusively, on the years before civil registration began in 1837, and on those Church of England parishes, that after the boundary changes of 1974, remained Berkshire parishes.Twenty more Berkshire parishes are included in the Second Edition, including more from North Berkshire, but those absorbed from Buckinghamshire post-1974 are not. Full details of parishes and periods covered can be found at www.berksfhs.org.uk.
Berkshire Record Office (Reading) holds original parish registers for the pre-1974 county of Berkshire (including the Vale of the White Horse).
Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre (Chippenham) holds surviving early Bishops’ Transcripts for Berkshire (to 1835).
Purchase of this Berkshire Marriages CD entitles the owner to a large discount on the full price of the next edition (conditions apply).
